“Rockin' Through the 20th Century: The History or Rock & Roll”
“Rockin' is a multidisciplinary unit that uses high interest materials to teach U.S. History of the 20th Century. The emphasis of the program is on the political-social concerns of the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s. Jim created this unit and wrote the accompanying teacher guide. The presentation and unit has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm. It is appropriate for social studies teachers who teach the 20th century in intermediate, junior high, or high school. This is a half-day workshop or in-service session.

Writing Research Papers in the Middle School
This presentation is based on the teacher handbook that Jim created to teach his own students how to tackle the job of writing a research paper. “Everything out there for writing a research papers is written for high school or college students. So I created a manual that I could put in 6th graders hands that they could read and understand.” Middle school teachers who are looking for information geared to middle school students will love this presentation and handbook. The Handbook for Teachers & Writers of Middle School Research Papers is an invaluable guide for middle school educators. This workshop is appropriate for English and Social Studies teachers who are feeling overwhelmed at having to have students write research papers in middle school.

Incorporporating Technology Into Curriculum
As one of three finalists and the runner-up in the 2001 Texas Computer Education Association’s Technology Teacher of The Year, Mr. Stevenson is uniquely qualified and well prepared to bring you useful and innovative ideas for teachers to incorporate in their curriculum. Incorporating word processing skills, power point, and video production, Mr. Stevenson has a wealth of ideas and projects that teachers can use in the classroom. Brochures, flyers, power point games (like Jeopardy), multi media presentations, and video projects are all in his arsenal of ideas. Every teacher regardless of their experience level or technology proficiency will come away with ideas to use in their classroom.
(This seminar is appropriate for all, but most projects are geared towards reading, language, and social studies.)
