This is NOT another 'boring" author visit where the person is just hoping to sell some books.  Jim is a true educator and gives a presentation that is meant to be motivational and inspirational, as well as entertaining.  Jim does more than discuss his novel with the students and talk about the writing process. Jim also gives his own story of the learning difficulties he had in school and talks openly about his poor grades and low self esteem.  Jim explains that although he was a "late bloomer" and never made the honor roll until his senior year of high school.  He went on to graduate from college, earn his masters degree, and was even invited to join the national honor society in college.  He talks to the students about the importance of reading and writing.  BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!  He also entertains the students with his own songs. Jim is a songwriter and performs several songs during his presentation for the students.  He also has several songs he has written to inspire students to read.  Jim has written a special song he uses in his presentation entitled "When Daddy Taught Me How To Read".   The presentation is best for groups limited to less then four classes and lasts about 45 minutes. Jim can do about 3 presentations in a half day schedule and is willing to have larger audiences if there is a need and a location with enough room.  Jim is an accomplished international presenter and has made presentations in such locations as Austin Texas, Dallas Texas, McAllen Texas, Mishawaka, Indiana, South Bend Indiana, and Granada Spain to name a few.  At this time Jim has a special for schools in the South Texas area.  He will do author visits for $250 in the coastal bend area for a limited time.  The regular fee for an author visit is $500 plus expenses.

Jim is also available to do workshops with students. Jim will come and put on writing workshops with your students. He can do a workshop on writing poetry or one for story structure. These workshops can be geared for students in 5th grade through high school.
